University of Basra Affirms Its Commitment to the Comfort and Safety of Female Students at Bab al-Zubair Campus

The Department of Internal Affairs at the University of Basra, represented by its Director, Assistant Professor Mohammed Imad al-Rubaie, affirmed its full understanding of the observations and appeals raised by a number of female students and parents regarding the housing conditions at the Bab al-Zubair Colleges Complex, emphasizing that the comfort and safety of female students are its top priorities.

In his statement, Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, Mohammed al-Rubaie, stated that the closure of some buildings (Parts 8-9) was for the purpose of comprehensive reconstruction and rehabilitation to provide a better and safer housing environment. However, the fact that this coincided with the start of the academic year caused temporary pressure on student capacity.

The statement added that this situation is temporary, indicating that work is underway, in coordination with the university presidency and under the direct supervision of the university president, to find suitable alternatives and reduce overcrowding in rooms as quickly as possible. Furthermore, supervisors are monitoring the behavior of female students to ensure appropriate educational and ethical treatment of female students.

He also indicated that clear regulations will be adopted for the use of mobile phones, taking into account the needs of female students for their academic purposes while maintaining order within the complexes.
